Trek-a-Long -- Statue Stalking

Today I took my Trekking sock for a walk around downtown Ottawa to look at some statues. Being Canada's capital, we have a LOT of statues here.

We have statues of the Queen.

We have statues of ordinary people.

We have statues of bears eating fish.

We have statues of giant spiders.

We have statues on pillars.

We have statues on domes.

We have some very linear statutes.

We have some rather rounded statues.

We even have some unintentional "statues."

At the end of our walk we stopped with these nice ladies ...

... to have some statue tea.

Come see Ottawa. It's a beautiful city, with much more to offer than statues.

(All photos taken within a 10-minute walk of where I work.)

Never been to Ottawa (isn't that sad?). Looks quite interesting. Can't say I'd ever miss that spider statue. I don't like creepy crawlies, and he looks too big to squish.

i thought i'd made the same trekking colorway back in march, but mine look SO different! http://knitspot.com/index.php?s=pointy+toe (maybe not he same . . .)
oh yeah, thank you so much for showing all the sites—i love that tea party table and those ladies.

I want to go back so baaad!

I have a lot of the same pictures -- Ottawa is such a photogenic city!

Next time I'm in town we should coordinate a downtown trek, maybe? I've got to finish posting my vacation entries -- including my many failed attempts to shop for yarn. :S I came SO close, so many times.

Thanks for that tour. I'm sure that spider (or one like it) used to be at the Tate Modern in London a few years back.

I might take one of my socks on a photo trip in a few days, its a great idea!

Dave

came to you from Alyssa's blog. I love the dishcloth entrelac. Haven't delved into dishclothland yet, but I'm feeling the need to go there.

I love your new girl. We have 3. I should try to post a picture of all 3.....impossible.

LOVE the spider statue! How cool. We just have statues of 16th century explorers in my town, along with the occasional cannon. Pooh.

Thanks for the great Garterlac pattern!

I think I like the unintentional statue the best. (That is not a slam on Ottawa's artwork, it's a compliment on your photography.)

Looks like a great city! Love all the sculpture, especially the rounded work. But that spider is just creepy, so large!

Is that a bear eating fish or is he doing karaoke?
You are so observant. I love the unintential statue.
Congrats on your big win in the Amazing Lace!

Hey! I live in Ottawa too. Love the angle you shot the giant spider in front of the National Gallery from. Looks like it's headed for the church.

Great pictures, especially the ladies & tea. The spider, however, would freak me out. Looks huge! : )
